The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places an obligation on the employer / Responsible Person to ensure all electrical appliances are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
The EICR can be used to assist the duty holder in assessing the risk to determine the safety of the installation. The information in the report could be used to develop safety measures to mitigate the danger until remedial works can take place, such as isolation of an affected circuit.

Test needed every 5 years or change of occupancy
Houses with Multiple Occupancy
Test needed every 5 years or change of occupancy
Industrial Premises
Test needed every 3 years
Commercial Offices and Shops
Test needed every 5 years
